Notizen - "He left Switzerland as a nonresistant objector to the compulsory military services, first going to Paris, France, where he worked in a hotel and learned the French language. Like Jacob, he farmed in Illinois and moved to the Remington-Wolcott area. He was a minister and elder in the Apostolic Christian Church, where he was known as a commanding speaker in the German language. In addition to farming, he also operated a feed business, which eventually became the mill owned and operated by his sons Chris and Harry."
